The tool setting method of NC machining center

"NC process foundation" and "machining coordinate system setting" have introduced the method of setting the machining coordinate system through tool setting, which is also applicable to machining centers. Because the machining center has multiple cutters and can realize automatic tool change, it is necessary to measure the basic dimensions of each cutter used and store them in the NC system for calling in machining, that is, to set the cutter of the machining center. Machining centers usually use the tool setting instrument outside the machine to realize tool setting

The basic structure of the tool setting instrument is shown in Figure 5.29. In Figure 5.29, the tool holder clamping shaft 2 is installed on the tool setting instrument platform 7, which is used to install the tested tool, as shown in Figure 5.30. By quickly moving the single button 4 and the fine adjustment knob 5 or 6, Larsen can adjust the position of the tool holder clamping shaft 2 on the tool setting instrument platform 7. When the light source transmitter 8 emits light and magnifies and projects the cutting edge of the tool onto the display screen 1, the dimension of the tool in the direction of X (radial dimension) and Z (length dimension from the reference plane of the tool handle to the tip of the tool) can be measured

the tool setting process of drilling tools is as follows:

1 Connect and install the tested tool with the tool handle as a whole

2. Insert the tool handle into the tool setting instrument and fasten the tool handle clamping shaft 2 at the same time

3. Turn on the light source transmitter 8 and observe the projection of the blade on the display screen 1

4. By quickly moving the single button 4 and the fine adjustment knob 5 or 6, it can be very helpful for the next step of the development of the enterprise. Adjust the projection position of the blade on the display screen 1, so that the tip of the tool is aligned with the center of the cross line on the display screen 1, as shown in Figure 5.31

5. The measured x is 20, that is, the tool diameter is φ 20mm, which can be used as tool radius compensation

6. The measured Z is 180.002, that is, the tool length dimension is 180.002 mm, which can be used as tool length compensation

7. Input the measured dimension into the tool compensation page of the machining center

8. Remove the tool to be tested from the tool setting instrument. 3. Equip relevant experimental tools, such as calipers, steel tapes, notebooks, hammers and various moulds After removal, it can be installed on the machining center for use
